Dog Cat Pet Premade Paperbag Scrapbook Album

Well, it's been awhile since I blogged last. My daughter is out of school (yikes - now a big 1st grader!), camp for her started, 4th of July has come and gone and I have been busy trying to get my Etsy shop stocked.

I recently made a few paper bag albums which I think are fun. I put together 3 paper bags, stitched them down the middle and added Dog themed papers and embellishments. I've made 2 dog albums (both sold!) and am in the process of making a cat album for a customer. See photos below for the dog scrapbook albums. There are more photos in my shop on Etsy at www.myscrapbookstudio.net. I'll post a photo of the kitty one after I've made it.

Have a great day everyone!

Sketch Inspiration Layout #127

Good morning. I've created a layout using one of my favorite sites called "Sketch Inspirations" (see link below). This site helps inspire me to make layouts I might not have even thought of. Here is a a photo with my daughter and my niece taken in 2008. Though the photo isn't the best in terms of clarity, etc., I was able to capture the joy the girls experienced running from the waves.

Would you believe it took about 4 hours to do this page? Yep, it did. I normally take approximately 3 hours on each 12"x12" page. But, the end result was worth it. Hopefully Kayleigh will think so too one day as she is looking through her memory books. :) Have a great day everyone.

Cork Anyone?

Well, I still haven't tackled picking up My Scrapbook Studio nor have I made anything "scrappy" today - YET! I decided to create a cork board message center and picture frame cork board instead. They have been needing to get done so there! Check and check!

The faux wooden laminate wall next to our fridge was damaged so I decided to create a full-length cork board to make our own calendar/message center. Here is what I used:

Fridge Cork Message Center:

* 12x12" cork tiles (come in a 4pk) - $5ish x 2 = $10
*Contact Cement by Weldwood (3oz size) - $6
*Xacto knife - very important - tried scizzors but it chewed the edges
*Cutting mat
*Wooden ruler

Picture Frame Cork Board:

*Large picture frame - this is approx. 18 x20"
*Thick poster board - $2ish
*Roll of cork - $6ish
*Cutting mat
*Wooden Ruler

The adhesive squares that come with the cork tiles are a joke - use for some other project. I researched a good product for adhering porous cork to faux wood board and contact cement came up. I did try permanet Elmers Spray Adhesive to the picture frame cork and poster board but it just came off - the contact cement is working great.

The contact cement is pretty stinky so make sure you have a well-ventilated area to work in. Read the directions thoroughly before beginning. The brush attached to the cover works but it's small. Be patient and cover both the cork and other surface well - it doesn't need to be thick.

I debated about covering the cork tiles with fabric but I knew I wanted a clean look as the message center will be cluttered enough with a calendar, Box Tops and can tabs we collect for school, our emergency contact list, Kayleigh's artwork, etc.

I was able to completely clear off my fridge from the clutter and now it is nice and neat on the message center. Initially, I wasn't crazy about the tile lines but the cork needed to be thick and the cork rolls are too thin and still not long enough. Overall, I'm happy with the end result. I hope this inspires you to create your own little cork board or message center. If you do create one, send me a message and attach photos of your creativity at work! :)

Perfect Weather for Scrappin!

Good morning. I'm sitting here listening to the rain fall and the low rumbling of thunder (accompanied by the washing machine spin cycle). Looks like Kayleigh won't have her t-ball game today.

Not such a good day for outside projects (what a shame), BUT perfect weather for going to My Scrapbook Studio to clean up and create something fun. I've been itching to make a paperbag album for several months, perhaps this will be the day! I will be sure to post my work later on. Have a great day everyone.
